Short Biography - Rüdiger Schramm
1957 Born in Kiel, Germany
1965-67 Attended children’s music school
1967-75 Percussionist with a famous brass orchestra performing repertoire from marches to opera excerpts in 120 concerts per year
1975-77 Timpanist with school symphony orchestra - concert tours to Vienna and Paris
1973-83 Drummer in a band
1978-82 Studied percussion at the Hamburg State School of Music. Graduated with masters degree with excellent results
1977-86 Permanent guest with the Hamburg Symphony and Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestras, including solo positions; appearances also with other ensembles such as the West German Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra and the North German Radio (NDR) Bigband
Participation in numerous television, radio and record productions, and the musical "Cats"
1986 Masters degree in solo performance - special award by the jury
1980-86 Start of solo career - appearances with Christoph Eschenbach and Justus Frantz performing Bartok’s Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion, with 35 concerts throughout Europe Bartok years
1985 Co-producer of the opening of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival
1986-94 Producer and co-ordinator of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival Orchestra - an educational programme for young musicians from all over the world with the participation of conductors such as Leonard Bernstein, Sergiu Celibidache, Lorin Maazel, Sir Georg Solti, Christoph Eschenbach, Valery Gergiev, Semyon Bychkov, Lord Menuhin, and soloists such as Christa Ludwig, Gidon Kremer, Yevgeny Kissin, Arleen Auger, Sviatoslav Richter among others.
